Awaking

Welcome to my project and look forward to hearing from you !

My project is directed to all the women who are inspired to share their experiences and stories. A story similar to mine: the rude awakening of a so-called fulfilling and harmonious marriage/relationship but actually more of a hidden lie.

I recall the day so well, when the true identity of my partner came to light. The day my husband said “sorry dear, I am gay”. Painful, brutal, destructive, hurtful … and more so because I never knew, never guessed it, never imagined so.
Suddenly so many questions overwhelmed me:

- where were we in this relationship over all these years of marriage ?
- why did I choose this partner in the first place ?
- how could we live peacefully together over this length of time ?
- what was my role ?
- who am I?

After months of introspection, I started a search for more information, explanations, accounts of similar experiences, women with likewise stories. But found nothing, no books, no forums, no accessible research, no sympathetic voices, … plain nothing to fall back on.

But what I discovered, along the way, is that I am not alone in this experience. Other women have gone through similar experiences.
It appeared to me that this fate affects many, although few have the courage or emotional strength to honestly talk about ‘my husband is gay and left me for another man’.

I would like to fill this knowledge gap with your help and input, and that is what my project, and this forum is all about.

This forum offers an exchange platform for experiences, feelings, thoughts, opinions, ideas, and more importantly, the sharing of real stories from women around the globe.

I invite you to write about your experiences, to express your thoughts, to share your story.
I look forward to learning about your honest writing, with respect … as we can all help each other in sharing and communicating.
Every case is personal, all are different and each of us may well have a unique view and perspective, each our own truth.

The Internet offers the possibility to share in a discreet manner, to exchange our unique views, and in the process, we may as well help others in their struggle towards understanding and self-discovery.

From the ashes, we must discover a new and fulfilling life.
